A typical urinal uses anywhere between 20,000 and 45,000 gallons of water each year. This estimate is wide because urinals differ, the level of water control going to them differs, as does the frequency of flushing, but if you're trying to calculate a saving, it's a good range to pick a figure from. Maintenance-wise, the waterless urinal merely needs the cartridge replacing every so often (dependent on usage). It is also cheaper to install. You don't need a water feed, so the urinal can be sited on any wall as long as you can get a waste away from it. You don't need any flush controls that may need hard wiring or battery upkeep. You don't need a void behind it, and everything is serviceable from the front (excluding concealed waste 600mm option).
